“Nomoshkar Kolkata, tomader shobbai ke onek dhonnobad” — Alia Bhatt stutters a bit as she rehearses her lines in Bengali ahead of her Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani promotional event in Kolkata, shows a video the actress shared on Instagram on Tuesday.
Clad in a red-and-pink sari, Alia continues to practise her lines even in the elevator, only to forget what she learnt on stage. But the actress sportingly continues with a “kemon acho shobbai (how are you all?)” as her co-star Ranveer Singh cheers her and repeats the Bengali lines after her.
“So cute, yaar. You did your homework but forgot everything during the exam,” Ranveer jokingly says in the video before the two interact with fans in the Bengali language.
The short video showing Alia’s efforts to learn her Bengali lines garnered love and affection from fans on Instagram, with many of them calling it cute.
Alia and Ranveer were in Kolkata for promotions of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, a Karan Johar directorial set to hit theatres on July 28.
The romantic drama — also starring Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi — marks Karan’s return as a director after a seven-year-gap.
