As soon as the comment was made, women around the world went into a tizzy, setting up facebook groups and staging demonstrations in protest.

The result: April 26 was declared ‘boobquake day’, WITH scores of women turning up in minimal clothing. there were no earthquakes, But Taiwan did feel a mild tremor.

What our celebs think of ‘boobquake day’

Paoli Dam, Actress
I think women should wear whatever they want to. If tomorrow I am asked to show cleavage in a film will I say ‘no’ because some cleric has said that it causes earthquakes?

Shonal Rawat, Model
I feel it is completely uncalled for and the person who is responsible for saying something like this should realise that it is nature that is causing these earthquakes. I have heard of and seen enough people who want to make an issue out of practically nothing. But it is good fun as then we can make fun (of them)!

June, Actress
The cleric represents people who are very frustrated and are on the lookout to create an issue out of nothing. But I think this is a complete non-issue and I don’t want to waste my time and energy even commenting on it.

Prahlad Kakkar, Adman
I think such theories should always be propagated because it gives us a chance to see women wearing next-to-nothing! ‘Boobquake Day’ should become an annual event like Valentine’s Day. We could even name it after the cleric!

Mir, anchor and t2 columnist
If such a hue and cry is raised about women walking about in revealing outfits, then something should also be done about the men who openly urinate on the roads! Since time immemorial, women have had fatwas issued against them for no reason. Here we have a cleric asking women to cover up while a country like France is banning burqas!
