Wamiqa Gabbi couldn’t contain her glee after being praised by veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman for the former’s performance in Vikramaditya Motwane-directed Prime Video series Jubilee.
Describing Zeenat as one of the most confident, progressive and ‘unapologetically sexy’ actresses of all time, Wamiqa said she grew up watching her films and songs. “It was just so beautiful to be validated by an absolute diva who resonated with my portrayal of Niloufar in Jubilee. It’s overwhelming for me to just know that she loved the series and would have liked to play Niloufer. I am truly honoured and ecstatic. I hope that she likes my other performances in the future.”
At a chat show hosted by comedian Zakir Khan, Zeenat Aman had recently revealed that if she was cast in Jubilee, also featuring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti Khurana and Sidhant Gupta, she would want to play the character of Niloufar essayed by Wamiqa. “Damdar hain” was how the yesteryear actress had gone on to describe the character and its interpretation through Wamiqa’s performance.
Wamiqa will be next seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's new series Khufiya alongside Tabu and Ali Fazal. She will also feature in another Vishal Bhardwaj series, Charlie Chopra and Mystery of the Solang Valley.
