| Ayushmann Khurrana and Priyanka Chopra shook a leg to Desi girl |
A day after Singapore gave a rousing reception to Dibakar Banerjee’s Shanghai, it queued up to cheer the stars at IIFA Rocks on June 8 at Concert Hall, Esplanade. The time read 5pm, still two more hours for hosts Ayushmann Khurrana and Chitrangda Singh to take the stage. Officially that is. Lining the green carpet were screaming fans — bottle of water in one hand for a quick sip post all the lusty cheering, and camera in the other — craning their necks for that perfect shot. The highlights...
Entertainment quotient: Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor opened the night with Uff from their upcoming Teri Meri Kahaani. He in a white tux and she in a sexy silver number shook a leg and introduced hosts Ayushmann and Chitrangda. Though the Vicky Donor star was good in parts, their jodi was a weak one with Chitrangda failing to sizzle with her lines. Full marks for looking scorching though. Always!
Must see: If Parineeti Chopra were to have a middle name, ‘effortless’ would be apt. A complete natural, Piggy Chops’s cousin sparkled in an impromptu moment on stage when Ayushmann asked her to rattle off an award acceptance speech in three different styles. “‘Dimple Chadha (from Ladies vs Ricky Bahl) would say, “Mujhe toh pehle se hi pata tha ke award mujhe milega, but thank you!” Zoya (from Ishaqzaade) would say, “Shukr hai mujhe award de diya, nahin toh sach goli maar deti!” And Parineeti would say, “Thank you so much… it feels amazing!”’ Full marks, PC (Jr).

| Masaba Gupta took a bow with her Bollywood showstoppers |
Sonakshi Rowdy Rathore Sinha revealed her sporting side when she was asked to show some bhangra moves. Shotgun Sinha’s daughter took off her heels, grooved and gave away a couple of awards, all barefoot for a lark!
Ranbir Kapoor was the drool star of the night with girls screaming out his name incessantly, from the moment he walked in with dad Rishi. The fifth generation Kapoor obliged with a quick wave. The screams got louder once the Rockstar actor went up on stage. “…your sperms are priceless,” Ayushmann joked. “Address de dena… bhijva deta hoon,” chuckled Ranbir. From mouthing, “Salim, Anarkali ko deewar mein chunwa do” like Prithviraj Kapoor and singing Kisi ki muskurahaton pe ho nisaar like Raj Kapoor to grooving to Paisa yeh paisa like papa Rishi and shaking his booty to Bebo main Bebo like cousin Kareena, Ranbir was the rockstar.
Music and style: Designers Varun Bahl, Suneet Varma and Masaba Gupta sent their collections down the ramp. “My collection is based on the cities of Tokyo, Madrid, Paris and Bombay. Think birds… girls are looking like birds,” Varun told t2 before the show. We did, when bird-inspired elaborate headpieces dotted the stage. Vivek Oberoi was the show-stopper in a black bandhgala. “Vivek is looking super as always,” smiled wife Priyanka.
