Vinay Pathak |
Vinay Pathak is here, there, everywhere... After Dasvidaniya, now his Oh! My God!! is playing at theatres. Even Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has him in an important role. A few little things about the actor, whose daughters call him Papa Popo!
My best friend: My two little daughters — Vasudha and Shalini — because they accept me the way I am. Our relationship is unconditional. They support every decision of mine. We have a great time hanging out together.
My family: Is my world. The ultimate solace.
My perfect date: Taking my daughters to Disneyland.
My most treasured possession: Obviously, my daughters. Children are the most precious things in anybody’s life, not just mine. How can any man with two angelic daughters even think of anything else being more precious? I know people are jealous of me, but I feel very fortunate and happy.
My proudest moment: When my daughters were born. When you father a child, it is the most priceless moment.
The best compliment I have ever got: Was given to me by my daughters. They had come to see a play in which I played a clown. They loved it and when I asked them which clown they had liked the most, they chorused “Popo the clown, Papa the clown”. They still tease me calling out ‘Papa Popo Popo Papa’.
Working late: Is normal for me.
My favourite shopping destination: Could be a street, a departmental store, or on a flight. I have got excited about items that are sold via in-flight magazines and have ended up not just spending all the money I had but with huge credit card bills thanks to them.
My opinion on hats: I love them. If I go to Nepal, I get them, if I go to London I get more. I recently went to Pune and I saw a very good looking hat; I purchased it then and there.
My favourite travel destination: It keeps changing. I go to Goa; I go to Kerala. I have discovered small little places that may not be on the map.
My opinion on body art: You never know, I might go for it. Why not? I am not against it.
When people recognise me on the road: I feel embarrassed. It is humbling and a very happy feeling.
My favourite music: Classical. Sometimes I like jazz.
In the kitchen I am: Stunningly brilliant. I am a vegetarian and I can cook a three-course meal for five people in 45 minutes.
The word that I use the most: Correct.
My greatest influence: My father and my teacher Shri Buddhi Ram Mishra.
My favourite Bollywood film: Mughal-e-Azam and Madhumati.
I am a big fan of: Hindi literature. I read Prem Chand.
I would want to change: Thousands of traits in me. There are at least ten million faults in me.
I get angry: When I yield to any temptation and when I do not have perseverance and patience.
My sex appeal: I really don’t think I have any sex appeal. I can never woo a woman or a man or a dog.
