But First... Let Me Take A Selfie! The T2 CAMPUS Team Shows You Nine Ways To Self-click It Right Published 10.06.14, 12:00 AM

Let’s face it. We’re a selfie generation. Remember those days where you’d have to cringing-ly take a picture of yourself in the mirror and then hear no end of it? Or when you wanted to capture a moment with your friends and had to hope that your turned-around camera got more than a flash of white teeth or someone’s one eye...

Well, those problems are ancient. Today we take selfies like nobody’s business... and hey, even the Pope takes selfies! So here’s a list of the most famous kinds of selfies. Don’t be shy, you know you’ve tried most of them. And let’s face it, it’s awesome fun. So let’s get down to it. But first...let me take a selfie!

Tongue sticking out. Yep, the trick is to stick a part of your tongue out from the side of your mouth. Sounds ridiculous, but hey, you can make it work! Favourite it for your random drunken night outs. Do it to kill boredom like Miley Cyrus or at a soccer game like model Cara Delevingne.

The mirror selfie. The best thing about a mirror selfie is that you get to show a lot more of yourself! Best avoided in the loo, best done in the gym. Think Sonakshi Sinha’s mirror gelfie (selfie in the gym, silly!).

The half-face godly selfie. This is slightly more artsy. Preferably taken in sunlight with a serene glowing expression on your face and rays of sunlight making a halo. Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz are fans.

One eyebrow raised. You scrunch up your face and raise one eyebrow and still manage to look cute. Whoa. You just won the Internet, Ranveer Singh.

One hand pushing the hair back selfie. Well, the name pretty much says it all. You make eyes at the camera, pout and push your hair back in funky lighting. The result — electrifying! Think Vanessa Hudgens.

The V sign. Be it for victory, for peace, or just plaIn V, we’ve done it all. The V-sign selfie can be found on most phones and usually follows a few rounds of shots.

Double #win for Nargis Fakhri for the pout + V sign combo.

Oscar selfie. HELL YEAH. Any gathering, sober or not, has to have an Oscar selfie, er, groupie, to commemorate the day/night/day and night. What is the point of anything, otherwise?

FOR CHRISSAKE! If you thought that the first papal selfie was as cool as it gets, get ready to meet the first man to have clicked a selfie with Jesus himself. Yes, travel photographer Lee Thompson climbed the 124-ft tall Christ the Redeemer’s statue in Rio di Janeiro and snap — one of the most epic selfies was produced. In Brazil to capture the World Cup preparations, who knew that Thompson would be found posing 124ft off the ground instead. Looks like the selfie revolution is here to stay!

Upside down selfie. Clearly not the best angle for everyone, so do a couple of trial shots before going in for the final. Best done in bed — the selfie we mean! Think Rihanna.

The Pout. Oh Em Gee, the pout. You have ’em lips then purse ’em! Use the colour of the season — glossy red — pucker up and pout! There’s nothing wrong with adding flair to fabulous. So let’s see those lips, Alia Bhatt!

SELFIE APPS

CamMe

This app is compatible with both the iPhone and iPad, and has the power to turn even a tablet into a selfie/groupie machine.

The app recognises your gesture, so it’s great for taking a group photo or a full-length selfie. All you have to do is set up your device on a stand and then step back. Raise your hand and close your fist to activate the countdown and you can take a picture from several feet away! It also features funny backgrounds for you to work with.

Nokia Glam Me

Nokia Glam Me for Windows Phone users not only helps one take a selfie but also automatically enhances it and allows one to share with friends. The Auto selfie feature is helpful as it generates a high-quality self portrait using the main camera, which recognises your face when it’s in front of the camera and takes the photo. You can also make manual adjustments to facial details and apply other cool artistic effects.

YouCam Perfect — Selfie Cam

This Android app helps turn every shot into a magazine cover shot! An auto beautifier tool instantly touches up your picture, evens out the skin tone and lightens dark spots. Plus, you can adjust the intensity of the edits and erase unwanted objects (like selfie-bombers). For more personalisation, the app allows you to add frames or create collages, which you can share with friends.

SnapDash

Users of iOS now have a cure for boring photos. The best thing about SnapDash is that it generates random pose ideas for you to try! Whenever you don’t know what to do in your photo, open up SnapDash and select from the categories. Then the app will give you a scenario that you can act out, before it takes a shot. Share the picture via Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

Perfect365

Perfect365 is a pretty cool app for photo touch-ups. You can give yourself a digital makeover using the app, which is available on both iOS and Android platforms. It uses face recognition to automatically make edits, and comes with pre-set styles so you can quickly make changes. Plus, you can manually apply make-up, remove blemishes, whiten teeth, and even replace your hair with templates!
