Relationship reveals to sexcapades to porn-watching habits — Season 5 of Koffee with Karan was steamy and saucy. Before this season of Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show tunes out this Sunday, t2 picks some big reveals!
RANBIR THE SINGLETON
Neither Ranbir Kapoor nor Katrina Kaif has spoken about their break-up on the show, but there were numerous references by other celebrity guests to Ranbir’s single status. Like cousin Kareena who said she didn’t want him to get into a relationship anytime soon because he “just needs to take a break”. Ranbir, who made an appearance with rival-in-love and rival-in-films Ranveer Singh, said he doesn’t enjoy being single: “Being single is boring. If you want space, you should go to NASA. It’s boring, it’s lonely, it’s sad.”
But is Ranbir the singleton all that miserable? Well, Bollywood doesn’t think so! The Kapoor boy’s roving eye found a mention pretty frequently — from Varun Dhawan, who not only named RK when asked which celebrity is likely to fall in love every month, but also hinted that Ranbir even hooks up with fans (“I have never hooked up with a fan. But I have a friend who does that. He is a Kapoor!”) Even Alia Bhatt pitched in to pick Ranbir when asked which celebrity would buy relationships online, if available. But the clincher was this delightful exchange between Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh…
Ranveer: I want to finish a fulfilling day of work and go back home to my woman.
Karan: And Ranbir… is that the same for you?
Ranveer (speaking for Ranbir): I want to finish a fulfilling day of work and go back home to my WOMEN!
RAM-LEELA THE COUPLE
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have never acknowledged their relationship, but guess who made the big reveal about Ram and Leela? DP’s ex Ranbir! “They complement each other well. They are just perfect to each other’s energies. I am really happy for them and I hope they can see this through and make some awesome babies together. I hope their babies like me as an actor and I am their favourite actor,” said Ranbir, even as Ranveer struggled to keep a straight face. Cue enough for Ranveer to declare towards the end of the episode: “I will definitely marry Deepika because I believe she’s marriage material!”
ARJUN HAS A THING FOR ANUSHKA
Did you know that Arjun Kapoor holds a candle for Anushka Sharma? Well, the secret spilled out on Koffee, first in the episode featuring Arjun and Varun Dhawan in which Arjun named Anushka when asked who he would like to marry (in the “kill-marry-hookup” question), prompting close friend VD to blurt out: “You always wanted to marry Anushka!”
Anushka made an appearance on the show three Sundays later with Katrina Kaif and was told by Karan: “Arjun Kapoor has been besottedly in love with you”. Flabbergasted at first and then floundering for words, Anushka, however, said she has never had feelings for Arjun.
Guess who else wants to marry Anushka? Good friend Ranbir! “I would love to marry Anushka, but she’s very happy right now in her life,” Ranbir said, referring to Anushka’s relationship with Virat Kohli.
SID-ALIA THE ITEM
Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt haven’t made their relationship official, but Koffee with Karan has. When asked what Sidharth has that he doesn’t, Varun — who made appearance number 2 this season, this time with Alia — stole a glance at his Badrinath ki Dulhania co-star, smiled and started playing with her hair. Later in the episode, Alia said that Karan and Sid were the only two people she would go to jail for. But Alia revealed all when it came to the Rapid Fire round when Karan asked: “What’s your relationship status — no time for love, work in progress, I still haven’t found what I’m looking for, it’s complicated”? Alia’s reply: “I’ve found more than what I’m looking for!”
VARUN LIKES DISHA PATANI
Varun — said to be in a relationship with school friend Natasha Dalal — made no bones about the fact that he finds Tiger Shroff’s girl hot. Get a load of his answers in the Rapid Fire round…
Karan: Three women who could turn on a dead man?
Varun: Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani. (“Sorry Tiger… don’t eat me”.)
Karan: What does Tiger Shroff have that you don’t?
Varun: Disha Patani!
KAPOORS THE GOSSIP MAFIA!
Ranbir and Kareena are Bolly’s biggest gossipmongers! Yes, the cousins, though not on any social media, reportedly stalk celebrities online, keeping a tab on their every move. Their partner in crime? Karan Johar. “There’s a (gossip) nexus in Bandra… there’s your house… there’s Kareena’s house and there’s Ranbir’s house. There are three people who know everything even before it happens. It’s called GM… the Gossip Mafia,” was what Arjun Kapoor told Karan in an episode.
Sonam Kapoor, sharing the couch with Kareena, revealed that the two are part of a WhatsApp group that includes “the Kapoor sisters and their core group” where they talk fashion, films… and gossip! However, Ranbir’s “broadcasting skills” (as KJo put it) was dismissed by close friend Aditya Roy Kapoor who said that “this source is not to be trusted!”
Katrina the girl crush: When asked which actress would Alia like to have a liaison with, the box-office darling promptly named Katrina… because “we have bunny hopped together and it totally works!” Guess who else “LOOOVES” Kat? Parineeti Chopra, who revealed that she keeps messaging Kat for fitness and diet tips. And yes, Anushka did tell Katrina that “a lot of women” crush on her!
Sania wants Ranveer to be single: Tennis ace Sania Mirza — married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik — made her crush for Ranveer all too apparent by saying she wants to “hook up” with him. The clincher? Sania wants Deepika to dump Ranveer so that “he would be single for everyone else!”
Parineeti wants to get Varun arrested: There’s no love lost between Parineeti and Varun. Parineeti, in particular, has an axe to grind when it comes to Varun. Why? We don’t really know, but apart from saying that Varun is an attention-seeker who loves taking off his shirt for no reason, Parineeti also said she would “love” to get him arrested!
Salman for kids: Salman Khan, who came on the show with brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, has his paternal instincts kicking in. Does that mean that the 51-year-old superstar is finally looking at marriage? Hear it from Salman: “I will have kids… I am not too sure about the marriage!” Salman also said that he wasn’t “very good” with his relationships. “He was good to other people at that time!” chipped in Arbaaz.
We hate Katrina: Katrina revealed that Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor had once formed a “We Hate Katrina” club, after Varun was pulled up by Salman Khan, who was then dating Katrina, for ogling at her! “I know why Varun started the club, but I have no idea why Arjun joined it!”laughed Katrina. Maybe because Kat has been trying for many years to make Arjun her “rakhi brother”, a fact that she revealed on the same episode!
Twinkle out on bail: Twinkle Khanna, making her debut on Koffee, said she’s out on a bail of Rs 500! Her offence? Unbuttoning husband Akshay Kumar’s denim buttons at a fashion show, as part of a publicity gimmick. “It’s even there on my Wikipedia page!” And yes, many years ago when Akshay had landed up at Twinkle’s house to propose marriage, her mother Dimple dissuaded her from accepting it because she had heard from someone that Akshay was gay!
Let’s talk about sex, baby!
A lot of sex talk dominated Season 5, with Karan going all bold and brazen when it came to prodding celebrities about what goes on between their sheets. This was also a season when our famous faces dropped quite a bit of their inhibitions, coming clean on relationships, sex… and even porn! We picked a few OMG and some ewww moments.
Karan: So what do you do for sex?
Arjun Kapoor: Have it! (When Arjun said that he’s currently single)
Karan: Do you have a bigger penis than Varun?
Arjun: I am pretty certain of that!
Karan: Love or casual sex?
Ranveer Singh: Sex is much better when there is love involved.
Ranbir Kapoor: I agree. Casual sex is worse than masturbation.
Karan: If a hot girl made a pass at you, you won’t succumb?
Aamir Khan: Of course I will succumb!
Karan: If a girl wants to get close to you, what will she have to do?
Aamir: Just get close to me… I will do the rest!
Aamir also said he could have been a sex therapist, if not an actor. “Arre, hidden talent!” he laughed.

Two newly introduced segments, ‘Koffee Shots’ — in which a guest had to drink a coffee shot every time he or she had done something scandalous — and ‘Kiss with Arjun’ — where they had to kiss Arjun Kapoor whenever guilty — was a huge hit, bringing in some fun reveals. We now know…
♦ Both Ranbir and Ranveer have made out in the make-up room as well as on a plane. “It was in the plane’s loo,” Ranbir elaborates.
♦ Ranbir has slept with a friend’s
girlfriend. “Koi meri waali toh nahin thi, na?” a sheepish Arjun asked RK.
♦ Kangana Ranaut has dressed up for role-play and has also tried out a sex position recommended by a friend. And yes, the firebrand has kissed a girl!
♦ Priyanka Chopra has sent lusty text messages “several times”. “You could be giving training classes in that, I feel,” KJo tells PC wickedly.
♦ Both Ranbir and Ranveer have fantasised about their mother’s friend and both have hooked up with older women. Ranveer also revealed that he gets turned on “210 per cent” while doing lovemaking scenes.
