The backstage boys of performing arts came under the spotlight on September 23 at Science City Auditorium as the third edition of Stagecraft Awards, with t2, felicitated and celebrated some unsung heroes.
Dressed in dark waistcoat and crisp white shirt, Prosenjit, the face of Stagecraft Foundation, delivered an emotionally-charged monologue thanking the team that makes it happen for him. “Prosenjit isn’t magic, he is a family man. I have a secretary, who guides me... tells me where I have to go, and where I shouldn’t. I have two bodyguards, who protect me with their lives at stake. I have a make-up man, who can remove the dark circles under my tired eyes with the stroke of a brush. I have a dresser, who arranges my clothes so that I can be presented in front of you in the best of clothes. If I ever fall asleep in my car, my driver makes sure I reach my destination safely. I have a spotboy who worries about how many cups of tea I have in a day, what I have for my meals and when I have to take my medicines.... These are the kind of people who keep thinking about my well being, and forget about their own families. I keep receiving all the adulation and good wishes from you all. But who am I without these people? They are the ones who have made me who I am. They are my life, my world,” said the Tolly superstar.
Strumming a guitar, Papon, the man with one of the coolest voices on the Indian music scene, got the crowd cheering and clapping along to songs like Moh moh ke dhaage, Kyon, Aami je jalshaghore...
Usha Uthup, chairperson of Stagecraft Foundation, performed hits like One two cha cha cha and Mera naam Chin Chin Choo ... in a medley. The Science City audience was on its feet, clapping and singing along in unison.

Fans welcomed Team Zulfiqar — (l-r) director Srijit Mukherji and cast members Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Prosenjit, June, Paoli Dam, Rahul, Kyra, Neel Mukhopadhyay and Jisshu Sengupta — on stage with loud cheers. Zulfiqar, also starring Dev, releases on Sashthi.
Anupam Roy got the crowd swaying to his hit songs, ranging from Autograph to Piku.
