The Sudheer Varma-directed Telugu remake Ravanasura hit theatres on April 7. The film earned Rs 18 crore at the box office on its first weekend.

Written and directed by Srijit, Vinci Da was headlined by Rudranil Ghosh, who played the titular role of a prosthetic makeup artist in the film. Ritwick Chakraborty, Anirban Bhattacharya, Riddhi Sen and Sohini Sarkar also featured in the movie in significant roles.

In Vinci Da, Ritwick plays ‘serial lawyer’ Adi Bose — a lawyer who turns vigilante by night. He commits crimes wearing the mask of criminals who went scott-free in the past for their transgressions. He initially tricks Vinci Da to make these prosthetic masks for him and later blackmails him with videos he had shot while Vinci Da was making these masks.

In Ravanasura, Ravi Teja’s character Ravindra is inspired by Adi Bose. Ravindra is a junior lawyer who works for his ex-flame. One day a client approaches Ravindra to help her prove her father’s innocence in a murder case. As Ravindra works on the case, things take a turn as several incidents of serial killings are reported. As ACP Hanumanth Rao (Jayaram) digs deep into the murders, it is revealed that Ravindra is actually committing these crimes and had blackmailed Saketh (Sushanth), a makeup artist, to prepare prosthetic masks for him after kidnapping his girlfriend Jaanu (Daksha Nagarkar).

Industry sources close to Srijit have revealed that he is currently working on a cop-universe movie in which Anirban Bhattacharya’s character from Vinci Da — DCDD Bijoy Podda — will be solving crimes with Prosenjit Chatterjee’s Probir Roy Chowdhury from Baishe Srabon.
