With electric and eclectic music on stage, the crowd was euphoric at Euphonious 2016, a music fest held at The Bhawanipur Education Society College on September 23. St. Xavier’s College, J.D. Birla Institute, Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, Shri Shikshayatan College and Scottish Church College also participated in the daylong fest. Bhawanipur College was declared the overall champion of Euphonious 2016.

Kalyan Majumdar of St. Xavier’s College was the runner-up in the Introductory Round. “Sitar is my love. I have been learning it since I was four. I want to take this music to the teenagers of our generation,” said the computer science student.

Rickraj Nath of Bhawanipur College bowled everyone over with his electric guitar and bagged four awards. “I’ve been playing for eight years. Guns N’ Roses and Flash are my favourites. As a musician, it’s important to connect with the audience and the crowd at Euphonious was amazing!” grinned the BCom student.

JUDGESPEAK
“The crowd at Euphonious was reacting to the music and the musicians were reacting to the crowd. They were really enjoying the gig. My message to young musicians is to learn before playing,” said Bihu Mukherjee, a percussionist with Orient Express.

IN THE AUDIENCE
“This was the first music fest I attended in my college. It was amazing to see that all colleges have such lovely artistes and budding musicians. I had a gala time with my friends,” said Kathakali Rucha, a first-year student of Bhawanipur College.
