Madonna’s deliberate nip slip at her Istanbul concert began with the 53-year-old pop diva pulling open her shirt to display a strapped bra top. She then ripped off the first layer of her bra revealing her lacy lingerie. She suggestively tugged at her bra straps before pulling the entire cup down and exposing her breast. The Girl Gone Wild hitmaker then quickly turned her back on the audience, unzipped her trousers and stood with her hand inside her pants! While some have slammed Madonna’s striptease — “the most desperate act in the history of music”, declared celebrity blogger Piers Morgan — many of Madge’s fans across the world have hailed the ageless pop icon’s eye-popping act.

KISS MISS

Much before Sandra Bullock made a grab for Meryl Streep at the 2010 Critics’ Choice Awards, Madonna suggestively locked lips with fellow pop queens Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Music Awards. The three received much flak for it, but Madonna couldn’t be bothered. “It really doesn’t matter, does it? They already think I’m a f****** bitch, they already think I’m Attila the Hun. They already compare me to Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein,” scoffed the Material Girl.

DRESS UNDRESS

From wearing her underwear out to tossing her G-string into the audience to turning up in that iconic Jean Paul Gaultier conical bra (extreme left) in the ’80s, the Like a Virgin crooner has shocked critics — and even some diehard fans — worldwide. Madonna’s new single Girl Gone Wild shows her in a barely-there bra on the cover (left).

RELIGION BE DAMNED!

Madonna has gained notoriety for her risque semi-nudist stage routines, most of which are anti-establishment and question religious motifs. During her 2006 US tour, the singer-actress-director appeared hanging from a cross (extreme left) and wearing a crown of thorns. Her 1989 hit Like a Prayer was banned by the Vatican because of its Catholic symbols such as stigmata and burning crosses, and a dream about making love to a saint. Last month, the popstar infuriated critics when, at a concert in Tel Aviv, a swastika flashed across a screen as she performed (left).

BOOK, FILM AND TV

In 1992, Madonna delivered a shocker — even by her standards — with the book Sex, an erotic page-turner featuring nude, S&M and lesbian shots in the company of famous faces Naomi Campbell, Isabella Rossellini and Vanilla Ice.

Then, er, came her first documentary film In Bed with Madonna where she simulated oral sex with a wine bottle!

In March 1994, she used profanity on the Late Show with David Letterman that had to be censored on television and even handed the host her panties and urged him to smell it!
