In July 2015, Shahid Kapoor broke many a heart when he got married to Mira Rajput, a Delhi girl with no Bolly connect. Now proud parents of baby daughter Misha, Shahid and Mira are all set to make their TV debut together on this Sunday’s episode of Koffee with Karan (9pm on STAR World and STAR World HD). The much-in-love couple talk about childhood crushes and what makes their marriage work. A t2 sneak peek.
TWINKLE, TWINKLE!
Host Karan Johar isn’t the only one who’s had a crush on Twinkle Khanna — Shahid confesses that as a kid he had a special something for the actress-turned-author. As a teen, Shahid idolised Twinkle so much that when his mother Neelima Azim was shooting the 1997 film Itihaas with Twinkle, Shahid would park himself at the hotel swimming pool where the film was being shot, just to catch a glimpse of Twinkle! He apparently waited for hours every day, till his face got severely tanned. Wonder what a certain Akshay Kumar has to say about that!
LOVEBIRDS
Instagram posts to two-gether appearances, Shahid and Mira have been setting serious #CoupleGoals over the last year. On the Koffee couch, Mira admits that she is “head over heels in love” with Shahid. Guess what’s the last thing she tells him every night before sleeping? “I love you.” Awwww! Shahid also confesses that he’s lost his heart to his wife. The one big positive that marriage has brought about? Shahid has quit smoking completely.
Mira: I know everything about him and he knows everything about me.
Shahid: I am still discovering boyfriends of yours!
Karan: We have his count, what is yours? How many boys before Shahid?
Shahid: No less than mine!
SHAADI SHENANIGANS
For the first time, Shahid and Mira reveal what led to their arranged marriage. Not knowing that she was meeting her prospective in-laws, Mira openly shared her not-so-favourable opinion about Bollywood with Shahid’s dad Pankaj Kapur and stepmom Supriya Pathak when she met them for the first time in Delhi. After the meeting, Mira and her family initially thought that Shahid’s parents had come seeking Mira’s hand in marriage for their younger son Ruhaan, who is closer to Mira’s age! For the record, Shahid is 35, Mira 22.
‘MIRA MAKES ME FEEL UNQUALIFIED’
An English Honours graduate from Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College, Mira comes from a background very different from Shahid who has grown up with films and filmstars. In fact, Shahid admits during the course of the chit-chat that Mira often makes him feel “underqualified and uneducated” with her knowledge and her ease with words.
