Sammir Dattani was discovered by the Rajshris in their 2004 film Uuf Kya Jadoo Mohabbat Hai! Despite the great start, poor box-office results forced Sammir to struggle to keep his acting aspirations afloat. But it has finally paid off. Four years later, Sammir is an up-and-coming star down south, with three of his five films sticking around on screens for 25 weeks.
Now, Sammir is all ready for a second swipe at Bollywood. “I have three films as the main lead coming up,” reveals the young actor.
His next release Dhoom Dhadaka — which he calls “total paisa vasool comedy — will hit halls later this month. The actor is also looking forward to Mani Shankar’s Mukhbir, in which he has the lead role as an informer for Indian intelligence. “I have really worked hard for this role and sought a lot of information by reading books about how spies work,” says Sammir. After Mukhbir releases in June, Sammir has a romantic film coming up called Love Ka Tadka, starring Nauheed Cyrusi. “2008 is going to take me places,” Sammir says with confidence.
