Glitz and glam was the vibe on the red carpet at a special preview of H&M at Woodburn Central on Thursday evening. The global high-street fashion label, which opened its first store in eastern India on September 23, hosted an exclusive party with Bollywood hottie Aditya Roy Kapoor as the star guest. Dressed in tracks, checked shirt, olive green jacket and white kicks, the Ok Jaanu hero looked smashing. “My fashion is a mix of habit and comfort. I kind of like repeating things and I am not adventurous. One of the things I like about H&M is you come into the store and you have so much that you get inspired and you want to try new things. I shop a lot from H&M, so I am really very happy to be here,” said Aditya, at the store which is diagonally opposite Calcutta South Club.
It was a fangirl moment for (l-r) Neha Gandhi, Vasundhara Mantri and Eshaani Jayaswal as the trio got up close with the star who they thought was “a fine blend of hot and cute”.
After clicking selfies and checking out the store, it was time to show some moves! Aditya was spotted grooving to Lean On with the guests in the store.

ADITYA’S TOP 3 PICKS

So what got Aditya all smiles? “Chaddis! They are important, you need to buy new ones and every now and then you should spice it up. I liked the green animal-print one the most as I am into animal prints nowadays,” he said.
“I really like it! I am upset I haven’t got these yet. It is so cool and you don’t need to say more, right? It’s all there,” grinned the Aashiqui 2 hottie.
The first pick was a white tee with Jimi Hendrix graphic. “He is the best guitarist, he is timeless and my fave, so I am very happy with this one. When it comes to T-shirts, I am easy about it. Sometimes I wear plain stuff without any message... I think I have grown out of that phase where something had to be written always,” said Aditya.

WHAT THEY LOVED...

Raima Sen did a red on the red carpet. We loved her bell-sleeved short playsuit and the fun butterfly hair accessory. “I loved the clothes, which were on trend. Velvet to embroidery, they had a varied collection,” said the actress.
“H&M showcases contemporary stuff that suits everyone. I am super happy that now Calcuttans need not travel to other cities to shop from this brand. It’s an upgradation of the Calcutta shopping scene,” said actress Nusrat Jahan, who picked up casual tees. “Smart casuals is what I love,” she said.
“The brand is for young and fun people, so I loved the pop colours. The olive green oversized jackets have a cool quotient. I also loved the Mickey Mouse tees, they are so cute,” said actress Parno Mittra, checking out the autumn/winter collection.
“A lot of brands claim to be affordable, but none does it better than these guys,” said actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay, looking dapper in a blazer and denims.

THE UNVEILING

Time: 10am. Crowd count: 400. Woodburn Central was the place to be on September 23 morning where shoppers made a beeline to enter global high-street fashion brand H&M. While some parked themselves from Friday night, others queued up from the morning to grab free vouchers given to the first 300 customers.
Janne Einola (second from left), country manager, H&M India, handed over gift vouchers worth Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 to the first three people in the queue. Sumnima Chamling (third from left) walked away with the first prize, while Tenzing Lackmoen (second from right) and Siddhant Raj Chhetri (extreme left) were second and third.
The 18,000sq ft sprawling store was packed to the rafters as shoppers young and young-at-heart scrambled to pick the best of the lot. “We are so delighted to see over 400 customers waiting  in queue before the opening of their new favourite store. With the Pujas around the corner, everyone was in a festive mood. The customers particularly loved the matching suit sets and the message tees in the ladies department as well as the Justin Bieber collection in the Divided section,” said Dhatri Bhatt, head of communications, H&M India.
