Does shaving feel icky? Deepika Padukone doesn’t think so. The Bolly star, riding high on the success of Tamasha and gearing up for Bajirao Mastani, has become the brand ambassador for Gillette Venus. DP shares a few skincare secrets with t2...

You’re the new face of Gillette Venus shaving razors for women. What made you say yes?
It’s a privilege to be associated with an iconic brand like Gillette Venus that understands the needs of the modern Indian woman. While providing women with the most convenient and skin-friendly solution for her beauty regimen, Venus empowers them to explore their true potential. I have always believed in looking within and embracing my ANDs and it is indeed an honour to represent this through the brand’s latest #UseYourAnd campaign.
Personally, how handy is shaving? Do you carry a razor with you?
Being in the profession that keeps me on my toes, I carry my razor wherever I go. Shaving is totally painless and gives one the convenience to get rid of unwanted hair anywhere, anytime.
What are the shaving myths you’d like to bust?
Through my association with Venus, I would like to tell women to not be a victim of the myths associated with shaving. For example: Shaved hair grows back darker, thicker and coarser, skin becomes rough and dry, one shouldn’t shave frequently…
Cosmetics and make-up aside, how important is hygiene in a woman’s beauty regimen?
I think hygiene is very important and I am someone who is almost borderline OCD. So for me it is very important to be clean and hygienic not only to myself but to keep my surroundings clean and lead a healthy lifestyle. Also, it’s very important to be hygienic irrespective of whether you’re stepping out or not.
You have a hectic schedule, but are you particular about taking time out for some me-time?
I think me-time is very important. As busy as one may be, it is important to take out time for yourself and unwind and to do other things that take your mind away from work. You’ll come back refreshed and do your work much better.
And what does your me-time pampering comprise?
I get frequent massages. I also like to sleep and listen to music. And cooking... I find cooking very therapeutic.
What is a beauty tip your mother has passed down to you.
That less is more!
The weather is changing and winter is coming. Any skincare regimen you would recommend?
It is extremely important to keep the skin moisturised and hydrated at all times. I use a light moisturiser or oil to keep my skin soft and smooth.
You’re so glamorous, but what is it that makes a woman glamorous for you?
I think the most glamorous aspect to anyone’s personality will be their self and self-confidence. Don’t follow trends blindly, believe in yourself and be the person you want to be.
Tamasha first and Bajirao Mastani next, it’s a busy time for you...
Tamasha has just released and now I am gearing up for Bajirao Mastani which releases on December 18. As much fun it is shooting a film, promotions are also amazing because I always believe it’s what you make of certain situations; anything can be fun if you make it so. Also, it is important to reach out to the audience and create that awareness about a film that is going to release.

What you love about DP’s style
The Gorgeous Blue Dress. I appreciate the dark colour of this dress as much as I admire the tan belt on it. The dress is further accentuated with a white jacket that flashes printed lips. That’s really cute (Which style of Deepika from Tamasha would you like to steal? December 2).

The crisp blue shirt accompanied by the blue-hued blazer is the perfect attire that defines a well-spent vacation wordlessly. I’m totes crushing on that look and Deepika carried that look with a panache unparalleled. She sure knows her clothes. The cat’s eyeshades and the messy hairdo are a sure-shot eye-catcher. The varied orchestra of blue is impeccably every fashionista’s elixir! Soignee much?! *wistful sighs*

I love Deepika’s style and would like to rate her 10 out of 10. She specially carries dresses very well and she looks good in jeans also for her slender legs. She has the perfect body and can carry any outfit with style. Though I don’t like ripped jeans, yet I must agree that she looks good in them as well (How would you rate Deepika’s style on a scale of 10? November 27).

I would give her 9 out of 10. Deepika Padukone, who has become the fashion icon for youngsters in India, is always seen in fresh and stylish fashion statements. The actress never fails to amaze us with her new styles at various events. From maxi and midi to shift, bodycon, casuals and traditional wear, Deepika Padukone has her own style to carry different outfits and we just love it. Making her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om to her impressive films like Cocktail, Love Aaj Kal and Bachna Ae Haseeno, Deepika has upped her fashion quotient with every film of hers.
