The much-awaited Dance ka Bhoot has finally dropped, almost two weeks after Deva Deva. Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus, Brahmastra, slated for release on September 9 — starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead — has been dropping one hit song after the other.

Dance ka Bhoot is the introductory song for Ranbir’s character, Shiva. Shot against the backdrop of Dussehra, the song has all the elements of a hit dance number and includes the dhunuchi naach, the Bengali ritual dance reserved for the last day of Durga Puja. Dance ka Bhoot is also a visual spectacle, with around 1,200 dancers taking part in the song, as revealed by Ranbir on a YouTube live session.

Composed by Pritam to Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics, the song sung by Arijit Singh might remind you of Balam Pichkaari from Ayan Mukerji’s last film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Talking to fans on a YouTube live, the Brahmastra team of Alia, Ranbir and Ayan shared tidbits about the song and hinted at another song release that’s going to be released soon. Ayan also said that the character of Shiva in Brahmastra is based on the “Bholenaath aspect of Lord Shiva’s personality”, which is what is portrayed through Dance ka Bhoot.

Other than Dance ka Bhoot, Brahmastra has released two other songs including the massive hit, Kesariya which has been released in four Indian languages apart from Hindi — Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Deva Deva also found a lot of love amongst fans where Ranbir’s Shiva can be seen training and realising his powers as an Agniastra. The Brahmastra cast also features Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy.
