The south film industries have recently seen a lot of activity. Besides the trailers of big banner films headlined by superstars like Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger, Vijay Sethupathi’s 19(1)(a) and Vineeth Kumar’s Simon Daniel, many other developments in the south film industries kept social media abuzz over the week. Here’s a recap of all the important events and a list of upcoming projects.
Miral (Tamil)
The second look poster of Bharath and Vani Bhojan starrer Tamil thriller Miral, directed by debutant Shakthivel and produced by Axess Film Factory, was released. Apart from the lead pair, the film also stars K S Ravikumar, Meerakrishnan, Rajkumar, and Kavya Arivumani.
The latest poster hints at a fire accident on a windmill farm, which forms the major plot of the film.
Bagheera (Tamil)
The makers have revealed the release date of Prabhu Deva’s upcoming psychological thriller, Bagheera. Written and directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film stars several female actresses, including Amyra Dastur, Ramya Nambeesan, Janani, Sanchita Shetty, Gayathrie Shankar, Sakshi Agarwal, and Sonia Agarwal.
Prabhu Deva plays a psycho killer. who kills girls for fun. The actor will be seen in more than six different looks in this film. Bankrolled by Bharathan Pictures, Bagheera is set to hit the theatres on August 11.
Visudha Mejo (Malayalam)
The trailer of the Malayalam romantic comedy Visudha Mejo was released by the makers. Directed by Kiran Antony, the film, produced by Vinod Shornur, Jomon T John and Shameer Muhammed, stars Lijo Mol Jose, Dinoy Poulose and Mathew Thomas.
From the trailer, it looks like a romantic drama filled with comedy and quirky characters. Set in a small town in Kerala, the film explores the courtship of the lead pair amid several hurdles. Visudha Mejo will hit the theatres on August 5.
Abbara (Kannada)
The teaser of Kannada superstar Prajwal Devraj’s upcoming film, Abbara, was released by the makers. Apart from Prajwal, Abbara also features Rajshri Ponnappa, Lekha Chandra, Nimika Ratnakar and Ravishankar.
Ravi Basrur is the music composer of the film, directed by K Ramnarayan and produced by Basavaraj Manchaiah Hithalapura under the banner C & M Movies.
Abbara is set to release on August 12.
Cadaver (Tamil)
Amala Paul’s thriller Cadaver is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar soon. Directed by Anoop S Panicker and written by Abhilash Pillai, the film is being touted as a forensic thriller. Apart from Amala, the cast of Cadaver also includes Athulya Ravi, Harish Uthaman, Riythvika, and Munishkanth. Music is composed by Ranjin Raj.
The streaming service tweeted the poster of the film to announce that it will premier on their platform soon.
