Ushasie was spoilt for choice at the PC Chandra Goldlites Diva contest, held in association with t2 at Jadavpur University on September 16.

Ebar bodhoy toss korte hobe, everybody is so good,” said the Tolly actress, who was the celebrity judge for the event.

Sixteen girls bubbling with confidence and attitude, as they tried to impress the judges, walked the ramp at JU amidst cheering from friends and moms.

After the two fashion rounds — western wear and eastern wear — the judges short-listed six participants for the talent round. Anusha Limbu (PhD student), Reshmi Sarkar (first-year undergraduate student), Bidya Roy (PhD student), Arkoja Acharyya (second-year undergraduate student), Guncha Arora (second-year undergraduate student) and Anwesha Mukherjee (final-year postgraduate student).

“When I was young I always wanted to walk the ramp but never got an opportunity. Now my daughter is living my dream. I came to cheer for her,” said Susmita Mukherjee, Anwesha’s mother.

From dance and acting to rhythmic gymnastics, the talent round saw a variety of skills on display. Arkoja and Reshmi acted, Guncha and Anusha recited poetry, Bidya performed rhythmic gymnastics, and Anwesha danced.

Unlike in other colleges, the judges had two questions for the JU participants in the final round — What would you do if you got up from sleep and saw yourself sitting amidst the Jammu and Kashmir floods? And as an ambassador of India what are the three features of our country you would project to the world?

Based on the answers, Anwesha came third winning a gift voucher from PC Chandra worth Rs 1,000, Guncha bagged the second position winning a voucher worth Rs 2,000 and Reshmi emerged the winner and won a voucher worth Rs 5,000.
