Season three of the comedy-drama series Panchayat will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 28, the streamer announced on Tuesday.

“You moved the laukis, we unlocked your reward! #PanchayatOnPrime S3, May 28,” Prime Video wrote on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a poster of the highly-awaited sequel.

The poster features Jitendra Kumar’s Abhishek Tripathi, Neena Gupta’s Manju Devi and other cast members with a shocked expression on their faces while pigeons fly off in the background.

Before the announcement of the release date, Prime Video had created a game for fans to unveil the date. They had to remove laukis from the screen one by one at an interval of 15 minutes to reveal the date of the highly-anticipated season of the rural comedy drama.

In December last year, Prime Video had provided a glimpse into the show’s upcoming instalment. The first photo featured actor Jitendra Kumar riding on a bicycle through a village road. The other photo featured Ashok Pathak, Durgesh Kumar and Faisal Malik as Vinod, Bhushan and Prahlad, respectively, from the series.

Also featuring Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles, the series follows the journey of an engineering graduate named Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar, who ends up working at a panchayat office in a remote village after being unable to find a job of his calibre.

Panchayat won the inaugural Best Web Series (OTT) Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November last year.

Season 2 of Panchayat hit Amazon Prime Video in May 2022.
