Following the success of its first TV+ show, Shakha Proshakha, hoichoi TV+ is set to launch its second show, Atonko, starring Soumitrisha Kundoo in the lead. Best known for her portrayal of Mithai in the hit television show, Mithai, Soumitrisha is also familiar to hoichoi audiences through her appearance in the series Kaalratri. With Atonko, she returns to the platform in what promises to be one of her most intense and challenging roles yet. The six-episode show will premiere on June 24, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday until July 15.

Atonko follows a trauma-scarred woman whose marriage begins to unravel after she accuses her husband’s father figure and uncle of predatory behaviour, forcing an entire family to confront whether she is revealing a buried truth or losing herself to the haunting shadows of her past.

Kaalratri gave me my hoichoi debut, and that journey stays close to my heart. I’m selecting and working on women-centric themes... the kind that women can relate to. The way Purba’s character has been portrayed, along with the different shades and layers in it, is exactly why I chose this character. With Atonko, I get to go somewhere even deeper. Purba is a woman carrying years of abuse, fear, and unanswered pain, and through her, I got to explore what happens when trauma and reality stop looking the same. This is a story that constantly asks you: what is truth, and what is the wound speaking? I’m grateful to be telling it, and I hope people will love what we have done with Atonko,” said Soumitrisha Kundoo. The show also stars Abhishek Bose, Subrata Dutta, Saoli Chattopadhyay and Biswanath Basu.
