“I am out to party on Christmas Eve after many years. I am enjoying myself. Jojo is a very good performer,” said actress and MP Satabdi Roy, with Tolly colleague Abhishek Chatterjee by her side.

SONG & DANCE: After the inauguration by mayor Sovan Chatterjee and DG (West Bengal Police) Naparajit Mukherjee and the felicitation of past presidents, it was time to party. Tina, emcee for the evening, introduced singer Jojo on stage a little after 9pm and she immediately had the crowd cheering to I Just Called To Say, Ab ke saawan, Koi yahan and more. But the song that made those on the floor shake their booty the most? Good ol’ Shadher lau! After Jojo was done, there was a quick lucky draw round for members. Then the party shifted indoors with singer Sumit Roy in charge.

Food & drink faves: Fish finger and kebabs. Whisky as thirst-quencher.

She was wearing: Saris. Vibrant Kanjeevarams, bright Bomkais, tussore, crepes, fancy nets... Some paired it with stylish coats and jackets, others preferred their pashmina stoles. The younger brigade stuck to denims, with the occasional dress standing out.

Club speak: “About 350 people attended the party. The members were very happy also because never have so many dignitaries attended any one event of the club before: there was the DG West Bengal Police, the mayor and also the sheriff of Calcutta. The music was also a big hit,” said club president Ashim Kumar Mukherjee.
