The Vanity Fair Oscar Party In West Hollywood Was A Glam Fest. We Ogled, We Lusted & We Learnt Some Style Lessons Published 05.03.14, 12:00 AM

That Jennifer Lawrence is allowed to wear things that are not Dior! The 23-year-old girl came dressed as a 23-year-old. She ditched the flounce and fancy couture and turned up in an embellished little dress by Tom Ford. Covered arms, legs on display, lots of shine and smokey eyes, it is such a failsafe party pick. And guess what? She didn’t trip!

That Kate Hudson can be so wow… She is on a roll! After a jaw-dropping superwoman act on the red carpet in the Atelier Versace cape dress, she kept her glam game up in a Zuhair Murad gown later in the after-party. Lace, beading, nude, black, some delicate jewels and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, the ingredients and the final dish both: YUM!

That a black dress does not have to be boring. Taylor Swift nails the look in her partly sheer, totally sexy maxi dress by Julien Macdonald. The accessories included an Emm Kuo clutch and Tamara Mellon sandals (Tamara’s snapped her ties with Jimmy Choo to found her own shoe label). The look skyrockets with classic Hollywood make-up (vintage curls + red mouth)

That Anne Hathaway can make us yawn! This Viktor & Rolf number is so 2011. We wish she hadn’t changed from her gorgeous Gucci gown from earlier in the night

That you can work a print on the red carpet. Polka mixed with some micro florals, not your typical recipe for the party of the year but Zooey Deschanel shows us how it’s done. Effortlessly. And you can also go hands-free in a sling bag instead of juggling your flute of champagne and your minaudiere. Throw in some pretty pearls on the wrist

1. Amy Adams’s white Carolina Herrera dress got company in classic drop earrings, the yellow sapphires complementing her skin beautifully. Tiffany & Co, of course

2. Penelope Cruz’s ruby earrings — OMG kind of stunning.

3. Jessica Biel didn’t change for the party and went in her red carpet look. If we wore Chanel and Tiffany & Co, we wouldn’t either!

4. Lady Gaga blings out in her Atelier Versace gown + serious diamond cuffs. The emeralds and tattoos just pop it up further.

5. The sparkle on Selena Gomez’s Emilio Pucci gown found a friend in her subtle Victorian earrings.
