If your nose for good food is stronger than your nose for news, then do visit News, a restaurant from Red Cherry Hospitality, at Rajarhat’s Hometown Mall.

Opened in 2010, the restaurant has gone through a makeover of sorts with a new menu at slashed prices. “The earlier menu was a little inaccessible,” said News CEO Abhishek Bagri.

The new menu is divided into different cuisines –– Continental, Italian, Oriental and Indian — with the focus on casual dining.

Start your meal with Cream of Chicken Soup which, though a fairly common pick, is well prepared. Continental favourites on the menu are Chicken Tetrazzini and Beef Stroganoff. The Herb-crusted Baked Fish has that bang-for-the-buck element.

The Italian section includes basic pastas like Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, Lasagna with Minced Lamb Bolognese and pizzas.

The Indian food spread is a safe bet, especially the kebabs. You can’t go wrong with the melt-in-the-mouth Machhi Malai Tikka Kali Mirch or Paneer Dhaniya Tikka.

The Oriental section too plays on value-for-money with Chicken Lat Mai Kai and Nasi Goreng, a typical Indonesian fried rice.

The winners on the News menu are some old favourites –– Cheesy Baked Eggs and Mud Pie.

A meal for two costs upwards of Rs 800.
