Kurseong calling: She grew up in Kurseong and was really excited to go back there, for the shoot of the film Chupkotha, a thriller for the web portal Hoichoi. “I studied in Dow Hill School, and the shoot made me really nostalgic. Things have changed a lot. The traffic is crazy now. But the place still has that quaint charm. I love coming back here,” said Parno Mittra, who stayed at the Cochrane Place during the shoot.
Revolving around a missing child, a mysterious phone and a house that is filled with dark secrets, Chupkotha sees Parno as Shivangi, an investigative journalist. She gets her hands on an old Nokia 5110 phone, which is when there is a twist in the tale. Why do a web film? “The medium is not important. What is important is a nice script. I have been wanting to do a supernatural thriller for a long time. I really liked the story. It feels like I am shooting an independent film,” said Parno. Directed by Rick Basu, Chupkotha streams in July.
