The teaser of Hoichoi’s latest original series Indubala Bhater Hotel, headlined by Subhashree Ganguly, dropped on Sunday. The Parineeta actress plays an elderly woman in this series directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya. Adapted from a novel written by Kallol Lahiri, Indubala Bhaater Hotel marks Subhashree’s OTT debut. Her prosthetic look has already piqued the interest of viewers.

The one-minute-53-second teaser opens with the elderly Indubala, dressed in white, sitting in her kitchen in a wistful mood. “This is Indubala’s hotel. It has worn-out tables and damp walls. But people throng it to taste the food prepared by Indubala, not for the sake of eating out,” her voiceover says. The scene then shifts to a railway station where a young bride gets off a train. We then see an old Indubala cooking fish in her kitchen. The teaser ends with her getting drenched in the rain as she reminisces about her younger days.

One of the highlights of the teaser is the heartwarming song Pakhider Smriti, Kichhu Reetineeti used as the background score. The lyrics of the song encapsulate Indubala’s life in a nutshell. “This is the history of leaving one’s own country. This is the history of losing loved ones. This is the history of taste,” says the teaser.

Indubala grew up in a small village in erstwhile East Bengal and moved to Kolkata after marriage. Widowed at a young age, Indubala opened a pice hotel to survive in the city. The series portrays her struggle.
