RAGHU RAM OF MTV ROADIES ON HOW TO HIT WHERE IT HURTS Published 24.01.09, 12:00 AM

I’m sure the roadies wished their journey hadn’t started. Because no sooner than it did, they found themselves knee-deep in kilos of animal shit and in near-unbearable pain, with their testicles being treated as ping-pong balls! Everyone who watched the tasks cringed when the boys were getting hit in their most delicate part as punishment for wrong answers. Imagine how the roadies must have felt when Rannvijay told them their tasks, and when they actually had to do them. Having tried the ball-busting task in Mumbai before we left, I know that you’d die a thousand deaths in the seconds that you’re anticipating the blow between your legs!

Both these tasks completely belonged in Roadies. They got gasps out of the roadies and the viewers when they were announced. They not only tested their knowledge but the tasks were extremely difficult to perform and in the end turned out to be rather hilarious. But most of all, the shit-collecting task was a great setting for bringing out the drama and the underlying, simmering tension between some roadies, especially the girls. And the ball-busting task was great for setting up the characters better.

I found Devarshi really funny when he was talking to camera! The edit was also handled really well, with Devarshi spouting in Gujarati as soon as he was whacked between the legs! Hilarious!

Varisha of the Om-Blues gang got voted out. I thought that was very smartly done by the Brats. With the girls locked in a fierce power struggle, it was very clear that there was little unity within the Om-Blues. Palak, Tamanna and Paulomi are itching to have a go at each other, and Varisha seemed to be the only thing standing in the way of that happening. With her gone, the Brats planned that the Om-Blues gang would surely disintegrate and not be able to have a united front against the Brats. And their plan seems to be working to perfection!

When the roadies travel to Udaipur this week, all hell breaks loose. There are rumours of Tamanna and Nauman having kissed the previous night. There possibly is a love triangle fast developing between Tamanna, Nauman and Palak. A whole lot of accusations and name-calling leads to a Palak physically attacking Tamanna. Nauman has to step in to separate them.

The roadies are in for more pain and humiliation when they have to quickly learn and perform traditional Rajasthani dances in front of a tough crowd armed with slippers!

But the violence does not end there. An “innocent” game of truth and dare has Devarshi being picked on by quite a few fellow roadies, particularly Pradeep, who openly bullies him. This leads to another physical fight with again quite a few blows being landed before the combatants can be separated.

This episode will mark a significant turning point in the group dynamics. The battle-lines have clearly been drawn, and everyone will have to choose sides. Some difficult personalities will emerge. And they will have to fight tooth and nail to survive in the game…
