The iconic Flurys on Park Street has just completed 90 years and as a beginning to a year-long celebration, the kitchen has laid out a new menu.
“Flurys is always known for its European menu. This year we wanted to make it more contemporary and cosmopolitan, so that it appeals to the younger crowd as well. Now you can find Middle Eastern flavours with dishes like Moroccan Lamb Cigars and Southeast Asian Laksa and Coconut Curry too,” said executive chef Vikas Kumar.
Has anything from the old menu been retained? “Yes, of course! You can order your favourite Flurys sandwiches that have achieved a kind of cult status. Then we have the popular Grilled Fish Meuniere and the Honey Mustard Chicken. The all-day breakfast is also there,” said Vikas.
Here’s what you can order from the new menu next time you are there.
Green Beans Salad with Bacon and Vinaigrette:
Shredded bacon, Parmesan cheese and broken pieces of bread croutons get a lot of greens like parboiled French beans, rocket leaves, amaranthus, mustard and oregano leaves for company in this summery mix. The salad is tossed with a mix of olive oil, mustard, salt and pepper and served in a pouch of lettuce. The salad menu has two other non-veg options and three veg options to choose from. Rs 200
Crispy Fried Mozzarella Sticks with Tomato Basil Dip: Home-made mozzarella sticks coated in bread crumbs and deep-fried into crispy cigars. The crunch of the outer coating, the soft and cheesy texture inside and the spicy-tangy tomato basil dip together make it a smart finger food. Rs 350
Butter Poached Basa Steak with Peas and Mushroom Risotto: This is a must-try if you love your fish light and flavourful. A meaty basa fillet is poached in butter and served with an equally creamy and buttery risotto peppered with peas and mushroom. A drizzle of balsamic reduction sauce on top adds both colour and extra flavour to the plate. Rs 400
All Pork ‘Curly’ with Onion Gravy, Mashed Potato and Home-made Mustard: This curled pork sausage is imported from Germany and is served with pesto, mashed potatoes and salad. The sausage is grilled with olive oil, garlic and herbs and is best enjoyed with the special onion gravy. Rs 550
The Milk Chocolate and Hazelnut Creme Brulee will give you a sweet crunch, thanks to the caramelised sugar flakes and a soft, creamy chocolate custard to relish with eyes closed. Rs 250
The Flurys Baked Alaska made its way into the menu after a positive feedback from The Park. The ice cream-and-cake combo comes with torch-blown meringues and fresh fruits on top. Rs 300
