Yami Gautam, the star of Kaabil and Badlapur, has been signed on alongside Vicky Kaushal in Aditya Dhar’s debut film Uri — about the September 2016 attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Yami will play an intelligence officer with the character an integral part of the operation. The actress said: “Aditya’s passion about the film is infectious and the amount of extensive research he has done is amazing. I am really thrilled to be a part of this film.” 

She will start prepping for the film soon and begin shooting later this year. She said: “This is the first time I am playing a role like this. I’ve been looking to do roles like this that represent the strength and courage of today’s girls.”
Last year, Yami’s performances in Kaabil starring Hrithik Roshan and Sarkar 3 that had Amitabh Bachchan received critical and commercial acclaim. 

This year, she will be seen with Shahid Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Chalu directed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha maker Shree Narayan Singh.
