Loved the Dilwale twist to the much-loved Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge romance between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol? Well, you can catch Raj and Simran — or rather Dilwale’s Raj and Meera — reliving their romance, right in front of your eyes, at the East Bengal Club grounds — all thanks to SRK Dilwale Calcutta Tour, presented by t2 and 91.9 Friends FM. Calcutta, be there at 6pm!

What: SRK Dilwale Calcutta Tour, presented by t2 and 91.9 Friends FM
When: Today
Where: East Bengal Club grounds (near Eden Gardens)
Time: 6pm onwards

Calcutta has always been Shah Rukh Khan’s favourite city — “This is the only city where I can stick my neck out of the car and feel so much warmth and so much love,” the Bollywood Badshah, who owns IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, had told t2 on a trip to the city last year. Today, Kajol — Dilwale’s leading lady and the actress with the best on-screen chemistry with SRK over more than two decades — joins him for a song-dance-dialogue extravaganza in Calcutta, presented by t2, that promises to be a real year-ending treat.

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in Gerua from Dilwale

Before SRK and Kajol and co. take the East Bengal Club stage this evening, t2 draws up a wish list of the Dilwale moods and moments we want Raj and Meera to relive and recreate for their fans...

The magic of Gerua: The romantic anthem of the year has SRK-Kajol sizzling it up in cold, cold Iceland even as Pritam’s foot-tapping tune and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s soulful lyrics make Gerua a song that deserves to be heard on loop. We love: That moment in Gerua when Shah Rukh sneaks up from behind Kajol and kisses her on her neck. Awww!

♦ The sizzle of Janam janam: If Gerua is all about love, the real passion of the Raj-Meera romance comes through in Janam janam, especially that sexy dance in the rain. No, we don’t want the skies to open up when SRK-Kajol are on stage, but we are sure that come rain or shine (spotlights in this case), the two can whip up the sizzle of Janam janam... anytime, anywhere.

The cute date scene: We loved that How I Met Your Mother-inspired scene in which Meera gives Raj five minutes to impress her. He does all he can — from the sweet to the cute, the exotic to the expensive — to woo her, all in five minutes. Maybe SRK could do something Calcutta-style — like whipping out some maachh, mishti and more — for our half-Bengali girl Kajol?

♦  The bench banter: That classic scene where SRK’s goon Kaali — spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen it already! — is chasing a rival gang on the streets of Bulgaria, but still stops to help Kajol who has been knocked down by his car. Their eyes remain locked as they smile at each other, he helps her sit on a bench in the vicinity and walks away, but they continue to stare at each other. In fact, Dilwale is all about SRK-Kajol looking at each other the way only they can — sometimes passionate, sometimes playful... but always managing to knock us out.

ALSO...

SRK’s ‘Breaking Bad’ moment: Shah Rukh has always said he wants to remake the classic crime TV series Breaking Bad for Indian screens and he gets his own Breaking Bad moment in Dilwale where his Kaali — sinister and sexy in a hoodie (in picture) — walks into a godown and mercilessly and singlehandedly beats up a gang of goons. You
go, man!

Entry to today’s extravaganza will be through passes only, available at some ABP Classified Centres across the city (for details see ad on page 19 printed edition). Current members of East Bengal Club can obtain passes by showing their membership cards at the club.
