The Hoichoi series Karagar (streaming now) is set in Akashnagar Central Jail with 325 prisoners. The story takes an interesting turn when one night, during a regular head count it is revealed that there are 326 prisoners. His appearance in the prison creates panic since the cell he is found in has been locked for the past 50 years. No one has a key to it. This leads to an investigation of identifying this mystery man.

Actor Chanchal Chowdhury underwent a drastic change to embody his character of a haggard mysterious prisoner in the series. Dressed in rags, he has hollow sunken eyes, and sports a buzzcut. From losing weight to getting the hollow eyes and the entire desolate aura, this transformation lends weight to the character.

Talking about his transformation, Chanchal Chowdhury said, “Karagar is a very special series for me, it’s extremely interesting and engrossing and I was very drawn to the character. To play a character like this, getting every element right was essential. I knew I had to get the details of his appearance correct to the T. So, I decided to take that journey. Losing a lot of weight, spending hours in the make-up chair, the clothes and everything took time and effort, but the goal was very clear and something I was looking forward to.”
