Ocean is no drop in the ocean
The 28-year-old’s 2012 debut album, channel ORANGE, was a zillion times better than just good! It was a masterpiece rife with unrequited love. This unflashy R&B star had by then already written for Beyonce and collaborated with Jay Z and Kanye West. The lyrics of the then 24-year-old appeared to flow from the pen of an R&B artiste who was mature beyond his years. No wonder he ended up with six Grammy nominations in 2013, of which he bagged two.
Since then...
He kept tweeting about his next album. And he kept posting pictures. And he kept hinting that his next album would be titled ‘Boys Don’t Cry’!
Then it happened… almost
The series of false starts gave way to a contemplative visual album, Endless. He took to boysdontcry.co and livestreamed new music on August 18. We found the singer building a staircase while giving us a taste of some new music.
And finally…
A 17-track LP called Blond (though Apple Music lists it as ‘Blonde’, the LP sleeve reads ‘Blond’) is released as Apple Music exclusive on August 21 while his fans in New York, Chicago, London and Los Angeles were treated to physical copies of the record at pop-up stores. And these are the same fans who picked up a 360-page glossy magazine titled Boys Don’t Cry, which features photographs taken by the New Orleans singer-rapper, an interview with his mother, horoscopes and the lyrics of a rap called The McDonald’s Man written by Kanye West.

9. Silver for sleeping with eyes open in the morning classes.
10. Gold for multi-tasking... on four different social forums at the same time.
11. Gold for binge-watching several TV shows together.
12. Silver for memorising all the dialogues with pauses and punchlines from F.R.I.E.N.D.S but failing to learn even a
one-page answer.
