She wowed the TV audience as the motor-mouth Lolita in the STAR Jalsha mega Ogo Bodhu Sundori (off air), and now Ritabhari Chakraborty is poised to star in a feature film.
To be directed by Ogo Bodhu Sundori maker Rakesh Kumar, the film titled Tomar Shonge Praner Khela will see Ritabhari as a widow who lives in a palatial bungalow with her stepfather.
“I am very happy that instead of a bubbly-chirpy college girl I play a mature widow in my first film,” says Ritabhari, daughter of director Satarupa Sanyal, who made films like Anu (Indrani Halder) and Kalo Cheeta (Rituparna Sengupta) a few years back.
Tomar Shonge Praner Khela also stars Gourab Chatterjee, Hiran and Subrat Dutta. “My character shares a very interesting relationship with each of the men in the film. Can you imagine Gourab playing my stepson and calling me Ma in the film!” she laughs.
Subrat plays a gangster and a regular visitor to the widow’s house. Hiran plays a flautist. “Tomar Shonge Praner Khela is basically a relationship tale but there are several twists and turns. I consider myself lucky that Rakesh Sir is also the director of my first film. While doing Ogo Bodhu Sundori I learnt a lot from him and I am sure while doing the film I will pick up some more skills as an actress,” says Ritabhari, whose next film will be steered by her mother.
“I’ve grown up watching Ma directing documentaries and films and my ambition was to become a director. I still want to but before that let me do some acting so that I can hone my skills,” she smiles.
For now, Tomar Shonge Praner Khela, produced jointly by 18 Per Cent Films and LBP Films, goes on the floors in August.
