Badshah comes down hard on today’s music-making process, urges composers and musicians to get back to basics

Popular musician Badshah came down hard on today’s music-making process through a series of tweets posted on Tuesday, claiming that ‘no one is making music today’.
In the first of his three tweets, the 37-year-old rapper claimed that current musicians failed to deliver heartfelt music as they were in a hurry to crack chartbusters.
1..No one is making music. Everyone is shook. Insecure. Trying to crack the algorithms. Crack codes. Crack sounds. Coz koi bhi gaana hit ho raha hai. Its not necessary to be a big star to have a hit. Music has become extremely democratic. But log ye bhool rahe hain ke….

In his next tweet, the rapper also said composers should focus on the process of making music instead of spending time in cracking hit algorithms on streaming platforms. He urged musicians to get back to basics.
2.. ke acha gaana hit hota hi hota hai. Aaj nahi to kal. And that time has come. Streaming has levelled the field. For everyone. Fuck videos fuck budgets fuck production. All you need to make is GOOD MUSIC. Dil de dil tak. Back to basics. ❤️🔥

Addressing his fellow musicians, the Tabahi singer continued to speak his mind. He requested them to concentrate on evoking emotions with their music without falling for cheap gimmicks.
There is no code no algo no plan. Only music. Real music. No gimmicks. No efforts. Effortless music. Evoke an emotion. Any emotion. Fuck chords, touch chords.

Now one of the most recognisable musicians associated with Bollywood, Badshah started his career in 2006 alongside Yo Yo Honey Singh in the latter's hip-hop group Mafia Mundeer. After giving several independent hit singles like DJ Waley Babu and Wakhra Swag, he broke into Bollywood in 2016 with Kar Gayi Chull, which was used in Shakun Batra’s family drama film Kapoor & Sons.
The musician then went on to become a regular feature in Bollywood soundtracks in films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Khoobsurat, Baar Baar Dekho, Ok Jaanu and Street Dancer 3D.
