Ranbir Kapoor’s character grows up to become a bloodthirsty man with a strong desire to please his father (Anil Kapoor) following a traumatic childhood with frequent corporal punishments in the Animal teaser dropped by T-Series on Thursday.

The two-minute-26-second-long teaser begins with Ranbir walking through an open field with his love interest, played by Rashmika Mandanna. When Ranbir tells her that he wants to be a father, the latter triggers his insecurities by asking him if he wants to be like his father.

The teaser then moves on to show glimpses of the father-son duo’s toxic relationship, with scenes of Anil slapping Ranbir. This physical abuse forms the basis of his vicious nature that is shown later in the video.

The clip fast forwards to the present and shows Ranbir having a conversation with his father. Anil, in an attempt to defend himself for his toxic nature, tells him that he doesn’t know how to “train” a son. Ranbir looks him in the eye and says confidently, “you trained me well, papa.”

Following their conversation, Ranbir undergoes a massive transformation. We see him sporting a black blazer and sunglasses, with long hair and beard. He adopts a cold persona and fights a group of men wearing animal masks. He further says in the teaser that in his attempt to “seek evil”, he became “evil” which has stemmed from the emptiness resulting from his relationship with his father.

Co-produced by T-Series and Cine1 Studios and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal was previously slated to release in theatres in September. But to avoid a clash with the release of Jawan, its premiere was rescheduled. The film, which also stars Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri, is now set to hit theatres on December 1.
