The man in the steel grey suits with a penchant for BDSM and the innocent girl who gets drawn into his world are back. He is still wearing white shirts and still being all mysterious and she still can’t resist his charms. Fifty Shades Darker, which releases (at least outside India) on Valentine’s Day 2017.

The trailer opens not where the last film left off with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) walking out of Christian Grey’s life after she gets a real taste of what he likes to do in the Red Room of Pain. Instead, it opens with the Grey annual charity ball, yes, of the “silver balls” fame, but more importantly the one at which Ana meets Elena Lincoln (right) aka Mrs Robinson, who we also get a glimpse of later in the trailer.

Christian is in full throttle to make amends to Ana, if all the flowers are anything to go by, and he declares in no uncertain terms that he wants her back. But this time she has got some conditions — “no rules, no punishments and no more secrets”.

Some hot steamy shower sex (that’s the only sexy scene you are getting in the trailer) and some sunny romantic boatrides follow. 

But all is not well as we see a girl standing in the shadows watching Ana and Christian sleep, and asking Ana later in the trailer, “You think you are the first woman who’s tried to save him?” And then there is the blond man trying to intimidate Ana... saying anything more will be a spoiler. Montages of things falling apart follow, making it all look grim.

WHAT WE MISSED?

All the fun email exchanges between Christian and Ana that was the best part about the second book by E.L. James, and our chance to gawk at the perfect Christian Grey — okay, Jamie Dornan — body with only three wink-and-you miss shots of him shirtless.

WE HOPE

Given that there is very little BDSM in the book, this film (despite what we hope will be a lot of sexy scenes), unlike the first one, will release in India.
