SAIF Partners portfolio expands

New Delhi, Feb. 8: SB Asia Infrastructure Fund (SAIF) Partners, one of the largest private equity funds of the Asia-Pacific region, today announced that it has invested $22.5 million in Cybernet Software Systems (CSS).

With this investment, SAIF Partners has increased its India-client portfolio to six companies, which include Intelligroup, IL&FS Investsmart, Makemytrip.com, Sify.com and VisualSoft Technologies.

The CSS group is a business and technology solutions provider, specialising in services to enterprises and independent software vendors.

CSS has a testing subsidiary called Ready Test Go, a 24-hour technical and helpdesk services provider ? SlashSupport, an IT infrastructure management services provider ? ManageInfra, and an enterprise reporting and printing solutions provider ? Synaptris. Its customers include Cisco, Alcatel and Netgear among others.

“This is not an equity investment alone, it will be a partnership where we will work closely with the CSS management on market opportunities and growth strategies, be it organic or through acquisitions,” said Ravi Adusumalli, general partner and India operations head, SAIF Partners.

Adusumalli said SAIF Partners has a significant portfolio in India and has put a local team in place to strengthen its focus on the market.

The India team will not only identify investment opportunities but also work closely with its portfolio companies to develop their business, seek synergistic cooperation among them as well as enhance shareholders’ value by promoting good corporate governance and best management practices. “We are keen on investing in companies that are at a growth stage with a strong management team,” Adusumalli said.

CSS chief executive Shiv Kumar said the company was targeting $100-million revenues in the next 18 months and “this investment will provide the ideal platform” for the company’s “next phase of growth”.
