Calcutta, Oct. 11: Car major Honda is looking to develop a diesel engine for the Brio to cater to the Indian market where the demand for diesel vehicles are growing on account of high petrol prices.
Honda hopes to achieve a 10 per cent sales growth this fiscal.
“Our research and development team in Japan is working on the development of a diesel engine for emerging markets such as India and Africa. If we can generate sufficient volume from the car (Brio), we can develop a smaller diesel engine suitable for these markets,” said Seki Inaba, director (sales and marketing) of Honda Siel Cars (India), at the launch of the Brio here today.
