Patna, May 22: From July 1, morning-walkers using the Patna zoo premises would have to pay a monthly fee of Rs 60. The health freaks willing to obtain a pass with a validity of three months would have to pay Rs 150, while an annual pass would cost Rs 500.
The forms for obtaining the passes would be distributed from June 1 in lieu of Rs 10. The filled-in forms, containing the address details, two photographs and contact number of the person concerned, would have to be submitted at the zoo gate with the pass fee. Money receipts would be issued against them. Thereafter, the zoo authorities would issue passes to the applicants.
“The format of the application forms is very simple and the applicants would not have to submit any identity proof along with their forms,” zoo director Abhay Kumar told The Telegraph today.
He said the pass renewal process would also be very simple. They can be renewed just by depositing the requisite money, he said.
Sharing the reasons behind procuring the phone numbers of pass holders, the zoo director said it would be handy in case anything happened to a morning-walker during the course of the walk.
“The zoo would be able to inform the family members of the person concerned in such events,” he added.
The idea of introduction of passes for morning-walkers was floated in March this year. The Telegraph had reported it on March 4.
The zoo officials came up with the proposal of introducing the pass system to fulfil their commitment made to the Central Zoo Authority to take steps to regulate the number of morning walkers in the zoo.
At present, anyone willing to go for a morning walk in the zoo can do so without paying any entry fee. The happy hours start at 5am and continue till 7.45am.
