Mohammed Raju Kureshi, a butcher by profession, allegedly attacked his wife Afsana, 35, after an altercation over some issue on Sunday night.

After killing his wife, Raju fled and took his son and daughter with him. The incident came to light on Monday morning when Afsana’s sister Nargis, who lives on the first floor of the same building, came to see Afsana and found her body is a pool of blood.
Nargis informed her family about the incident, who in turn informed the police. The body has been sent for a post-mortem. The Phulwarisharif police have lodged an FIR based on the information provided by the relatives. The police have launched a hunt to nab Raju.
Sources said Raju came to Patna with his wife a month ago and they often quarrelled over issues.
Woman assaulted
A woman was sexually assaulted and then robbed of valuable items by four persons while she was alone in her house at Rania Talav area under Bypass police station.
Four men knocked on the door and entered the house after the woman opened the door.
The incident occurred in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
After sexually assaulting the woman, the men looted her household items, including a television and a sewing machine. The woman’s husband, who works for Bihar State Electricity Board, was not at the house at the time.
Bypass police station SHO Manoj Kumar said: “We have registered a case against four persons but we cannot say if she was raped until the medical examination report comes.”
Police sources said prima facie it appears to be a case of property dispute as the woman and her husband are fighting a land case against their relatives.
“We are investigating the case AND will interrogate the relatives too,” a police official said.
