Vikramshila Nagrik Samiti members on Sunday staged a dharna outside Kahalgaon railway station in protest against the state government’s “apathy” towards Vikramshila University during the just-concluded Bihar Divas celebrations.
They took a dig at the government for not having mention of the ancient institute’s name even once at the events organised during the state’s centenary celebrations.
They criticised the MPs and MLAs of Anga Pradesh for not raising their voice on the issue. “We had requested the people’s representatives to resign because they do not have the courage to lodge protests. We once again request them to take the initiative for the development of Vikramshila on the lines of Nalanda,” N.K. Jaiswal, the convener of the group, said.
