Patna: JDU leader K.C. Tyagi's son Amrish Tyagi on Thursday rubbished the claim of Cambridge Analytica (CA) whistleblower Christopher Wylie that the firm's parent company, Strategic Communication Laboratories (SCL), had worked for the party in the 2010 Bihar Assembly polls.

Amrish, who owns Ovleno Business Intelligence (OBI), SCL's partner in India, claimed that OBI was never associated with Cambridge Analytica.

Amrish issued a press note as OBI director, saying that the company came into existence in January 2010 and he was one of the directors.

"At the time of incorporation neither of its directors had undertaken any work of political nature," Amrish wrote in the note. "It is pertinent to mention that the firm only came into existence in January 2010 and therefore question of any work of any nature including political being undertaken before 2010 does not arise. We would like to make it clear that OBI was never associated with CA and it has not undertaken any job of any nature on behalf of CA."

He also said that they met various political parties for the purpose of political interaction, for the cause of promotion of the firm and to pitch for their service. Amrit, however, stressed that political parties - namely the BJP and Congress - never signed any digital project with them nor assigned any work during any election.

"So there is no point of any type of Facbook or any other social media data breach. Also as claimed by CA website for 2010 Bihar election, OBI or SCL UK/Cambridge Analytica never worked for JDU for any assignment," Amrish said.

He said that SCL came into existence in November 2011 with the objective of legal, accounting, bookkeeping and auditing activities, tax consultancy, market research and public opinion polling, business and management in which Amrish along with Alexander James Ashburner Nix, Alexander Waddington Oakes and Avneesh Kumar Rai were its directors.

"I strongly condemn the unethical practices being followed by Cambridge Analytica," Amrish said. "I categorically state that neither myself nor any company in which I am one of the directors is involved in Facebook data breach or leak. We offer ourself to be associated with any probe or enquiry to unearth the truth."
