Gaya: Vehicles and two-wheelers will be banned from plying in the main market from Tuesday to Friday considering the rush during Chhath Puja.
"Zila school ground next to the district collectorate, leprosy hospital campus, Ramshila Evening College (on Patna-Gaya road), the polytechnic-ITI campus and the sun temple land near Kendui (on Gaya-Bodhgaya road) have been earmarked for parking of vehicles ," said Gaya city superintendent of police (SP) J. Jalareddy.
Entry of four-wheelers and autos into GB Road near Peer Mansoor (towards the southern end) and Golpatthar (towards the northern end) has been banned from Monday. From Tuesday, two-wheelers will also not be allowed entry into GB Road.
On the four Puja days, only two-wheelers will be allowed entry into Tekari road from Bata More (around 500m south of Gaya railway station).
Routes have been chalked to ensure smooth passage of Chhath vratis to different ghats leading to Falgu river. Devotees going to Pitamaheshwar Ghat will have to alight from their vehicles near Peer Mansoor and park those on the Zila school ground.
District magistrate Kumar Ravi has directed Gaya Municipal Corporation officials to ensure adequate lighting and drinking water arrangement at all ghats.
