MOM'S THE WORD FOR GIRLS IN PATNA. HERE ARE A FEW MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS WHO SHARED WITH T2 WHAT MAKES THEIR RELATIONSHIP SO SPECIAL Published 14.05.13, 12:00 AM

For Ashwariya Shahi and Aradhya Shahi, the two teenaged siblings, their means the world to them. And this year, they made their mom feels more special as Ashwariya would move out of the city soon for higher studies.

Daughter speak: “Our mom’s the best because she’s an inspiring independent woman with a great sense of humour. No matter what obstacles we face, she helps us fight through them with her endurance. She is independent with loads of feminine grace and has brought us up to become smart individuals,” said 18-year-old Aishwarya, who is also the youngest English contemporary poet of Bihar having compiled her work in the book Memoirs of Former Self.

“For both of us, our mother is the last resort we go to when things are not on the right track. She is super cool. Even if I have a big fight with my friends she resolves it. Apart from that she is our fashion consultant. We just love her fashion fundas,” said Aradhya, 15.

Best gift ever: Aishwarya: My room,Aradhya: Goa trip

Mom’s peeve: “Oh! She is really angry if we are not perfect in any sense,” said Aradhya.

Mom speak: “Everyone says mothers sacrifice a lot. The word is pleasure and not sacrifice. I am a proud mom of two lovely daughters who are my best friends. I share the smallest things with them. They are the best gifts God gave me,” said Sumita Shahi.

Plan for the day: “We asked mom to give household and office work a break. We secretly decorated one room with balloons and frills. Each of us from our pocket money ordered mummy’s favourite dishes and a huge cake. As mom hates loud colours, we decked the room with sober embellishments,” said Aishwarya.

Shiva Lakshmi and Divya Lakshmi along with their mother Neelam generally unite on vacations and share gossip and laughter like long lost friends.

Daughter speak: “There are so many words that describe my mom. She is wonderful, loving, caring, determined and truthful,” said Divya Lakshmi, 25, PR professional working in Delhi.

“My mom is cool about everything. Right from boyfriends, late night partying, going to the disco, getting tattoos to anything about my personal or professional life, I let her know. I never had to lie to her,” confessed Shiva Lakshmi, 25, a lawyer.

“My mom is the best because she is always there for me. She has helped us through all our tough times. She is very kind and loving. She has made my life complete with her good advice,” said Shiva.

Memories with mom: “The memory that I still cherish was when mom took us to school. She was always wore well-pleated saris with the two of us in neat and clean uniforms,” said Divya

“It was heart rending to see her beautiful eyes full of tears when she used to see me off to the hostel. The moment was a real emotional aatyachar,” said Shiva.

Plan for the day: “After years we are altogether in the city for Mother’s Day. Giving her a break from daily chores, we made breakfast for mom. In the evening we went for shopping and bought her saris in her favourite colours. The day came to an end with us serving her dinner on the terrace,” said Divya.

Mom speaks: “I love both of them equally. Shiva left for hostel very young, so I spent very few years with her. Diyva was very naughty when she was young. So I did not send her to hostel. Both of them have changed my life in more ways than one. Both of them are dear to me,” said Neelam Singh.

Nupur Singh, 38, still waits for approving eye of her mother Savitri Singh before she is ready to leave for a party.

Daughter speak: “My mom is my closest pal and emotional anchor. I think I never got detached from my mother’s umbilical cord. It just became invisible. She is always there to guide me,” said Nupur Singh.

She’s my No 1: “Most kids of our generation hardly dared to speak with their parents, but my case was different. I have shared my joys, tears, sorrows, secrets, gossips, complaints and each and every detail of my life with my mother. The only reason I share everything with her is because I know she can guide me properly. Even if I am wrong, I have never hesitate to take advice,” said Nupur, director of Indus Infocom.

Plan for the day: “Me, my son and my brother gave my mother a surprise party. We compiled pictures and videos of her in a DVD and showed them to her via a projector,” said Nupur.
