Patna, Feb. 27: Tiny tots showcased their talent at the inter-school Basant Utsav and fancy dress competition organised in the primary wing of Radiant International School today.

While a few came in traditional guises of Radha, Krishna, bride and fairy, Chulbul Pandey of Dabangg fame was in attendance too.

Students came from several city schools like Blossom Nursery, St Karen’s Nursery School, AVN English School, Little Angels, Smart Kids, Roots to Wings, Gulmohar, Kidoos and Harmony took part in the competition.

Bala Prasad, the director-general of Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development, inaugurated the event along with C.B. Singh and Radhika K., the principal and vice-principal of Radiant International School.

Radhika was also on the judges’ panel in the fancy dress competition. Accompanying her were psychiatrist Dr Purnima Ambastha and Dr Kanika Srivastava, the in-charge of ESI, Patna City. Seventy children took part in the competition. Radhika said: “Children should be given a common platform to perform so that they could hone their skills in the presence of different people and various surroundings.

“An inter-school event is very good idea as these allow students to come across their weaknesses and strengths, which helps them later in life,” she added.

In the Junior A category, Anushka of Blossom Nursery, who came as a bride, was adjudged the winner. Alakshya of St Karen’s Nursery School and Aaryan Aditya of Radiant International School came second, while Sangrina of Radiant International and Sabarjit, an open candidate, took the third place. Ashmit Kumar got the consolation prize.

Sangrina, who was dressed as an old woman, won everyone’s appreciation. With flowers and a walking stick in her hands, she said: “I can do without my stick but not without flowers.” She stayed in character even after her performance on stage.

In the Junior B category, Sai Bhavika of AVN English School came first, while Ashutosh of Blossom Nursery came second for his performance as a rock star. Aditya Tripathi of Little Angels got the third prize and Pratyush Kumar got the consolation prize.

Headmistress of the primary wing of Radiant International School Meenakshi Kumar congratulated each participant.

Bala Prasad said: “It is a pleasant but challenging experience to bring up children and the role of parents should be truly appreciated. Not only do they perform their job beautifully, they also build up the confidence of their children so that they are able to perform without any hesitation.”

Singh said at the event: “Every school has a different speciality. When all of these come together, everyone gets a chance to learn something new. That is what we tried to do here today.”
