Family outing, religious gathering and late-night tipsy thumkas summed up the birthday celebrations of Jesus Christ in the city.

The entire city was decked up, with the churches and parishes adorned with LEDs, twinkling stars and attractive cribs. Thousands thronged the midnight mass.

As the day progressed, people headed to the hangout spots such as Rajdhani Vatika and P&M Mall to enjoy the holiday with their loved ones. They sang, played, munched and hugged each other in harmony showing their belief in the basic teachings of Jesus. After sunset, revellers headed to the hotels, clubs and Discman to end the day with élan.

SHOPAHOLICS’ DAY OUT

Place: P&M Mall

Fun factor: The festive discounts at retail outlets led to a huge footfall in the mall. The small activities organised in the courtyard of the mall was crowd-pulling. The food court was packed and a beeline could be seen outside every outlet

Face of the crowd: People from all age groups were seen at the mall. Kids were busy at the Time-Zone games centre, while youths watched movies

Off beat: A couple indulging in a high-pitched debate was the centre of attraction

Fun factor: Being a perfect picnic spot, revellers enjoyed boat rides, badminton and other games such as playing cards and ludo. Young girls clicked photographs and were seen playing antakshari

Face of the crowd: Elderly people took strolls while chatting and toddlers played on the swings. The footfall was mainly that of youngsters

Off-beat: A family was seen savouring home-cooked mutton and rice, which were served from large-sized vessels

Fun factor: The place was simply packed with youths. The play zone and a Santa distributing gifts were the main attractions. Children were seen playing with Santa, cozy lovebirds enjoyed in their own space

Face of the crowd: Youngsters and children had a blast at the restaurant

Off-beat: A business meeting among four marketing executives amid all the noise and fun was a bit of a turn off

Fun factor: Apart from movie-watching, cine buffs were seen tickling their taste buds at KFC outlet on the ground floor. Also, a lot was happening over coffee at CCD

Face of the crowd: An all-boys show but girls, who are die-hard Aamir fans, could also be seen in significant numbers

Off-beat: The Dhoom impact could be seen on a group of boys, who tried to do a few stunts after coming out of the show. They were, however, scolded by the cops near the theatre

Fun factor: Revellers stuffed themselves with Chinese food from the numerous fast food stalls, while children were seen persuading their parents to buy balloons and toys. Phuchka and momo sellers made hay

Off-beat: As girls thronged the ice cream parlours, a group of boys were heard discussing: “Why do girls have ice creams when it gets too cold?”

Fun factor: The floor was rocking. Youngsters kept the tempo high by dancing on the peppy Bollywood tracks. Girls with their thumkas left the boys spellbound. The newly opened bar was the busiest zone

Off-beat: A family with kids tucked themselves in a corner and was seen placing orders like they do in restaurants
