Patna, Feb. 16: An 18-year-old banking aspirant was found dead in side the room of Sri Krishna Yadav Lodge.

The situation in which Dayanand Kumar’s body was found suggests that it was a case of suicide, police said. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

If this turns out to be another case of suicide, this would be the ninth such incident in the state capital over the past two months.

Dayanand was a resident of the Khiranbigha village in Nawada district. Police sources said the deep cuts on his wrist and the blood splattered in the room suggested he had slit his wrists.

The boy was studying at Sagir Institute located near Patna College that provides coaching to banking aspirants. He had come to stay at the lodge on January 19, where he lived alone.

Foul smell attracted the attention of the other people residing in the lodge. The police was immediately called, who broke open the door to find his body lying face down on the bed. The boy was wearing a blue shirt and grey trousers. The body had swollen up and had started decaying.

Asrar Ahmed, the station house officer (SHO) of the Pirbohore police station said the boy might have taken the extreme step about two days back.

“A towel had been tied with the ceiling fan of the room in which Dayanand’s body was found. The boy was tall. Even though we are yet to investigate the case, we suspect he may have first tried to hang himself. But with his height coming in the way, he cut his wrist with the a blade. He died of excessive bleeding, it seems,” the officer said.

As of now, the police said they do not have much information about the 18-year-old.

“The matter is under investigation. The post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow at Patna Medical College Hospital. The name of his father is Krishna Dev Chauhan. We are trying to get more information about him,” the SHO said.

Police sources said the boy used to take coaching classes in mathematics and reasoning at the coaching institute.
