Patna, Aug. 1: Wife of a former crime reader of then Munger superintendent of police (SP) Sunil Naik, today visited chief minister Nitish Kumar’s janata darbar and complained that her husband was dismissed from duty and lodged in jail after being implicated in a false case.

Saina Praveen, wife of Mohammad Salim, said: “My husband has been falsely implicated by the former SP of Munger. He is a very honest man who reads namaaz five times a day. Please look into the case. My husband is innocent.”

Praveen claimed her husband’s service record was impeccable. “During his entire career, he gave his best service to the state and to the nation. Linking him with Maoists is unthinkable.”

After listening to Praveen, Nitish asked her to calm down. He called home secretary Amir Subhani and asked him to look into the matter.

“I am handing over this matter to the home secretary and if you are right you will surely get justice. I can assure you that,” Nitish said.

SP Naik had alleged that Salim had Maoist connections, which was established from electronic tracking device at the state police headquarters in Patna. He also accused Salim of passing on secret information about cops to rebels.
