Patna, Oct. 12: A student-based organisation, Inventors of New India, will organise a series of painting competitions for budding artists to showcase their talent.
Rinku Kumar, founder- president of the non-profit organisation and a Class XI student of St Dominic Savio’s High School, told The Telegraph: “This would be the biggest intra-city painting fest in the capital titled Colour India. Participants will give off their best and in a way also explain why youngsters do not take up painting seriously.”
Kumar added: “The best thing about these contests is that schoolchildren have taken the initiative to provide opportunities to other students.”
Colour India will allow children of different schools to paint their dreams, Kumar said. “More than 50 city schools have ensured their participation in the fest. Students from DPS Ranchi will also take part in the event, which is open to pupils of classes V to XII can participate in the event. The fest would start at International School, CBSE wing, on October 14,” he added.
Kumar said the fest will continue till December. Winners from each institution will then face each other in an inter-school competition. The intra-school contests will conclude in November-end, whereas the inter-school competitions will continue till the first week of December. DPS Ranchi, however, will not compete in the inter-school contest. Later, an exhibition will be held for the winners in January 2012.
Kumar said two years ago, a group of four students had decided to change society and work towards a new India, leading to the birth of the organisation.
He added: “New India is a concept introduced by four students, including me, which witnesses development in education system with the motive of inculcating moral values in them.”
The organisation has around 70 members at present. The founder members comprise president Rinku Kumar, vice-president Rohan Peter, general secretary Subham Kumar and head co-ordinator Pravar Ranjan.
Subham, a Class X student of Dr Dukhan Ram DAV Public School, Gola Road, said: “Everyone needs an opportunity to showcase his/her talent. This is what we are trying to do. We want maximum number of students to take up painting seriously. There should be more M.F. Hussains in the future.”
Subham said after taking his Class XII board examinations, he and other members would conduct such competitions across the country.
