Patna, March 6: Radiant International School and Lions Club of Patna Priyadarshini organised Basant carnival and baby show at the school’s pre-primary wing at Indrapuri today.

The event saw tiny tots take part in fancy dress competition, baby show and cultural programme.

Orthopaedic surgeon Amulya Kumar Singh was the chief guest at the event which was inaugurated by Vishal Singh, the school’s patron.

Principal C.B. Singh said: “It is the responsibility of the school and parents to bring up the child in the best possible manner. Individual attention should be paid to each child. Getting prizes is not important, what is important is to let a child bloom.”

“Several changes can be seen since our school started. The number of children has gone up and the progress is evident,” Singh added.

The excitement of the children was clear from their costumes and performances. In the fancy dress competition, children between two and four years participated.

Two-and-a-half-year old Satyam stole the show with his Spiderman avatar. He also tied on the first position with Shwet Raj, who came dressed as Lord Krishna.

“Policeman” Anish Krishna grabbed the second position, while Rajisha took the third prize as Shakuntala.

The baby show was divided in two groups — A and B — and the children came on stage with their parents. The first group had children between the age of one and two, while Group B had children between two and four years.

Amrita Rajwani and Geet Jagwani in Group A won the first and second place respectively. Rajisha and Anish Krishna bagged the first and second prize in Group B.

While doctors Santosh and Preeti judged the kids, the prizes were distributed by C.B. Singh, headmistress of the Indrapuri pre-primary wing Pushpa Singh, headmistress of the Patliputra Colony pre-primary wing Meenakshi Kumar and Shanta Jagwani, the president of Lions Club of Patna Priyadarshini.

Consolation prizes were also awarded to the students.

The vice-principal of Radiant International, Radhika K., also attended the event and encouraged the students to take part in such events.

Pushpa Singh said: “Events like these are necessary for the all-round development of children. Through such events, they can get rid of their stage fear and perform without inhibitions.”
