Patna, April 28: Issues related to education, health, energy and social welfare dominated chief minister Nitish Kumar’s janata darbar at Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel College on the second day of his three-day Seva Yatra in Kaimur district today.

Nitish asked education minister P.K. Shahi, who was present at the janata darbar, to take up complaints related to payment of consolidated salary of panchayat teachers on a priority basis.

Residents also drew Nitish’s attention towards shortage of teachers in primary and middle schools of the district through petitions. Besides, petitions regarding non-payment of consolidated salary to a number of vikas mitras for long were received at the darbar. Nitish referred the matters to the department concerned.

Petitions related to irregularities in implementation of social security pension scheme, old age pension scheme and widow pension schemes were submitted in large numbers.

The chief minister directed the Kaimur acting district magistrate-cum-collector, Anupam Kumar, to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the deserving. “If required, organise special camps in panchayats to pay pension to the beneficiaries,” Nitish told Anupam.

The chief minister also asked Bihar State Electricity Board chairman P.K. Rai to look into the complaints of the energy department. Complaints about the “callous attitude” of officials in issuing caste certificates to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes members were also raised.
